Raw cacao is another amazing powerful superfood from Andes which may benefit your health and even your mood.

It plays an important role in the synthesis of serotonin, so it will make you happy and relaxed. How great is that!

Raw cacao powder is rich in vitamins and minerals including Vitamin C, iron, potassium, magnesium, zinc, manganese, copper and calcium.

Health benefits of Cacao:

  • protects your nervous system
  • reduces risk of cardiovascular diseases
  • lowers insulin resistance
  • reduces risk of stroke
  • reduces blood pressure
  • shields nerve cells from damage

What is the difference between Cacao and Cocoa?

Raw cacao is made by cold-pressing unroasted cocoa beans. Cocoa powder is raw cacao that’s been roasted at high temperatures. Cocoa looks the same but it’s not. Unfortunately roasting changes the molecular structure of the cocoa bean, reducing the enzyme content and lowering the overall nutritional value.

So how can you add cacao into your diet?

You can enjoy a cup of hot cacao as a decadent guilt free treat which will warm you up in these cold autumn days. Raw cacao powder is also perfect ingredient for your healthy desserts. Here is some inspiration for you:

If you love chocolate you can make your own at home. It’s healthy, easy to make and so delicious. This is my favorite one: Coconut & raspberry homemade chocolate but you can add any ingredients you like such as nuts, sultanas, cranberries etc.
