I have to confess to something… During my vacations in Bali I fell in love… with papaya.
Yum! I can eat it every day! And my new favorite juice combination is papaya and pineapple surprisingly.
Even Christopher Columbus loved this deliciously sweet and soft fruit; because of its butter-like consistency he called it “the fruit of angels”.
Why is papaya so good for us?
Papayas are rich sources of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, flavonoids, Vitamin B, folate, pantothenic acid, potassium, copper, magnesium and fiber.
They promote the health of the cardiovascular system and prevent atherosclerosis, diabetic heart disease, colon cancer, lower high cholesterol levels and have anti-inflammatory effects. In addition, papaya contains the digestive enzyme called papain which is used for treating sports injuries and allergies.
How to enjoy papaya:
- Add to your fruit salad.
- Add to your tropical smoothie with pineapple, mango and coconut water.
- Serve papaya chunks with a little wedge of lime for squeezing on top.
