Spirulina!

This superfood is truly super healthy.

Spirulina, the spiral shaped algae, is 100% natural and a highly nutritious micro salt water plant which was discovered in South American and Africa in natural alkaline lakes.

Spirulina is rich in:

  • vegetable protein (3~4 times higher than meat)
  • Vitamin B 12 (3-4 times higher than animal liver)
  • Beta- carotene which protects cells (5 time more than carrots, 40 time more than spinach)
  • minerals (such as iron, potassium, magnesium, sodium, phosphorus and calcium)
  • gamma-Linolein acid (which can reduce cholesterol and prevent heart disease)

It’s great source of protein and vitamin B 12 in vegetarian diet.

And it has a great dark color. How cool is that!

So here is a simple recipe for your green smoothie bowl:

Ingredients:

  • medium banana
  • green kiwi fruit
  • 1 teaspoon spirulina
  • 1/2 cup raw spinach
  • 1/2 cup almond milk or coconut water

Toppings:

  • pomegranate
  • shredded coconut
  • green kiwi fruit

Instructions:

Blend all ingredients together. Top with pomegranate, coconut and kiwi fruit. Enjoy :).
